Hi, just new here aboard, but not really a newbie in the shaving passion... The HÄUSGEN family of SOLINGEN was an active part of the cutlery manufacturing branch since a long time ago from the 1850s to the 1930s. Shown here is a straight razor G.&E.HÄUSGEN WEYER-SOLINGEN #455 from abt. 1870-90 in new rosewood scales on an invoice bill of 1901... Both belong to my collection of Solingen cutlery and shaving accessories. I'm in the hobby since it started with this particulary SR, given to me as a gift supporting my genealogic family research back in 2004. In the meantime I have aquired and restored some 500+ more historic straight razors, SE and DE safety razors and a lot of shaving brushes & shaving accessory items. Some of you may know me from facebook as SolingerStahl or just as Rainer Häusgen from Solingen. Best Greetings & A Happy New Year to All.
Welcome to the Den! I use a Merkur 34c, but also have a 38c and a 37c lying around. So I thought it very interesting that you brought up Solingen. Anyway, welcome.
Welcome Rainer @SolingerStahl! Glad you joined our crew. I suspect you will be quite an asset to our community. Beautiful photos! Do you have a favorite razor/ brush/ soap/ aftershave?
Here is a pic with some of my favorites... One "Old Style" NoName Solingen "Schorkopf" (or French Spike) straight razor with thumb notch, selfmade wooden Barber Style brush with Finest Bagder, Williams Mug Soap and atomizer with ALPA 378 aftershave... I like "Old Style Shaving" ...
Welcome aboard! Fantastic collection from the looks of it. I'm sure a lot of our SR fans here had to get a towel to cover the keyboard from the excessive drool.
Greetings from Solingen to St.Charles,MO ...! Have been there back then in 1997... nice old town ! ...have some relatives in Elsberry Hwy.79...
