Eons ago when I started in TV, we used quad video tape machines. These were 2" tape with 4 heads, thus the name quad machines. It ran on 220 volts, 208 at our plant, and 90 lbs of air pressure. The reels would hold 65 minutes of tape. This picture was posted by my former boss today who took the picture many years ago. It was waiting to be picked up by recycling. For size comparison our engineer Joe Martin "Dr. Joe Bob" was standing beside it. He was a highly respected guy in our shop, hence the name. Just thought I'd share some history.
We had 2 of them. This one was the last one and was a color editor machine, if memory serves me. If you watched any of the 1970 Olympics. These were the type of machines they used to record and play back the games. This picture was taken in the mid 90's
I found this little thing on YouTube. Now to get it to air. Little known is it needed a 10 second pre-roll. Roll VT1...... and take. tp
