A while back, my GF bought this spice rack, with bottles for $2.00. The plastic lids were brittle and falling apart, so I thought about using it for a hanging pipe rack, with some modifications involved. This is the before pic showing what it originally looked like.......... So out came the rubber mallet to take it apart. I had to remove all the pegs, some broke anyway, and figure out the new locations for the "shelves". They had to be horizontal, with the bottom one close to the front, and the top one further back with the back end above the top dowel. Then I filled in the holes with plastic wood. I also glued some brown felt like material on the bottom shelf so all of the pipes didn't go through the holes and to keep them from sticking out the bottom holes.......... Now, while I have six spots, I still didn't have any place to put my two corn cob pipes. So the easiest way was to put two nails on each side so they can just hang on them. Not exactly great looking, but it's functional, I'll look for something better down the road to hang them on. Maybe someday I'll sand it down and stain it to cover the plastic wood, but I'm not really in a hurry to do it. For now, it will hang on the wall next to my relocated den..........
