If it is silver plated you really only need to keep it wet to sterilize it. Besides aesthetics i'm surprised more manufacturers don't use silver plate for razors. Silver is the perfect metal for shaving from a hygienic standpoint since the water activates it's anti-microbial properties. A good cleaning in hot soapy water and some silver polish that razor should really pop.
