How do they compare vs. their apperance. In your opinion what is the best Adjustable and which is the best slant? Thanks, SB
Too many models to choose from so I can only give my personal preference. Adjustable - Gillette Slim Slant - Merkur 39C Due to reasonable pricing and availability along with proven performance characteristics over a long period of time.
Personal experience only... My fav adjustable is the Gillette Executive, another great one is the short handle black beauty Fav slant is the ikon shavecraft 102. I prefer it to the 37c based on quality and 3-piece design, but both provided a great shave. So the answer is YES...buy both!
I love adjustables. The ones I use the most are the Merkur Progess and the Gillette Black Beauty. I will never buy another slant.
Fat Boy ! but I have six different types of Gillettes, (father's & grandfather's) and a Schick Krona (also my father's) and no favorites.
I prefer the slants vs adjustables. I found, for me, that with most adjustable razors, I simply dialed them wide open & left them there The exception being the Futur, which wide open is far too aggressive & dangerous. I see the appeal to adjustables, and thus, the popularity. If I were to purchase another DE razor, it'd be a slant — the Merkur 39c— larger handle, good weight, highly-efficient and comfortable shaver. Of the adjustables I've used (Gillette Fat Boy, Gillette Slim, Merkur Futur), I prefer the Futur. All models will shave you closely and comfortably. Two vintage Gillette Adjustables: Fat Boy & slim Here's two modern Merkur adjustables: the large Futur & the gigantic Vision Merkur 39c (left) shown with two other large razors…
Way too many choices, here, and the razor will be very subjective choices! Personally, I think the Merkur Progress and the Ikon Shavecraft 102 Slant are the best adjustable and Slant, respectively. Good luck with your decision.
