Hello everyone, so I have oily skin and I am looking for an aftershave that hydrates the skin but doesn't leave an oily residue behind. I've tried alcohol based after shave splash which work good but I have read that it's not good for the skin. I've tried some generic balms but leave my skin oily. I do use alum but that really drys out my skin. Any suggestion for a good aftershave? Thanks...

Nivea Aftershave Balm will not leave your skin oily, and it's exceptionally moisturizing.

Nivea original or the sensitive aftershave balm And Also there is L'oreal hydra energetic aftershave balm. That does not leave an oily residue either.

I have normal/oily skin. And that's what I use, I also use alcohol based aftershaves =) I use a combo. People say alcohol dries the skin, but if you also use a balm then problem solved =P

I also have oily skin. I use Corn Huskers Lotion as a preshave, it's very slick, full of glycerin and not oily at all, at least not for me. After my shave I rinse first with hot followed by cold water, apply a tiny bit (a little goes a long way)of Nivea sensitive post shave balm to my damp face, let it air dry while I brush my teeth, followed by an alcohol based aftershave splash.:)

I am not sure where you read that alcohol based splashes were bad for your skin. You might like something like Speick AS which gives a nice after shave feel and the scent is mild. Two others I enjoy are Irish Moos and Harris Arlington.

I like the alcohol-based, but mostly those loaded with goodies such as Captain's Choice Lime and Speick. If it's too drying then Thayer's WH has glycerin (if my memory is correct) and helps preventing drying out the skin, which therefore helps reduce the production of sebum. I don't like balms but that's just me.

I mix a couple of drops of jojoba oil with ASB.
