After the tragic demise of my Cadet I'm quite torn on what to add in it's place. New or Vintage? Aggressive or Mild? To slant or not to slant? Hm... I'm sure you guys can help make my decision even harder! Shoot! ;)

The Cadet was it an OC or a R/EJ89 style head and how did it work for you?

Like we're paid to do it. lol

IMHO... as cool as the vintages are, the only ones I ever got a decent shave from is the Tech and the injectors. The geometry just doesn't work with my face or they are too aggressive when it comes to vintage. So, my vote is for a modern 3-piece Merkur. The 1904 is particularly nice.

Go for the vintage. It is a classic for a reason.

It was open comb. The TP-26 It was great. I'm open for new exposure though.
I was contemplating a Merkur. I haven't seen many bad reviews.
I'm thinking about hitting the antique shops with a fury soon. :p

The Merkur OC is a nice razor. I have one. I also have Cadet OC heads. The Merkur OC is less aggressive than the Cadet OC.

If you are looking for vintage seek a Gillette Old or New if you want to go for vintage with an OC.

I've got a Merkur 1904 and a 23C. I would recommend either of them. The 1904 OC is more mild than the Cadet OC, but that makes it great to pair with a sharper blade.

My advice is to go new, then get vintage.

Oh, I'd definitely go with an OC for shaving the cat in revenge. But, an electric clipper would probably be the place to start.

FaTip Grande or Piccolo if you are looking for a good value aggressive OC...

Go get a RazoRock Jaws. It's cheap and aggressive, and when your kitty *cough* knocks this one over it'll only set you back $16

Hopefully the antique shops are better stocked than what they are up here. Becky and I hit two huge antique malls yesterday and I only spotted two injectors and a Gem MMOC. St8s were more plentiful, but as I don't restore them, only use them on Saturdays, and have 7 already, I passed.

I'm really hoping so. This place is supposed to be an old central hardware. My mom said it'll take us 2 hours to get through.

Get a vintage one and then a modern one.

Which razors do you already own? Do you prefer mild or aggressive razors? Do you have a strong affinity for things vintage or are you a modern, cutting edge kinda guy?

If the Cadet was your only safety razor, an Edwin Jagger DE89 series might be a good place to start. They are very popular for a reason- affordable, high quality, beautiful to look at, and give great shaves.

I have a Weishi, a Sheraton, and a Fat Handle Tech. I don't mind either mild or aggressive. I would like more vintage but modern is fine too.

Your pot metal razor broke and you're contemplating replacing it with another pot metal razor?
