Hey I have had this aftershave balm for about 24 months. It says 12 months on it, but what do you think? Should I get rid of it?
I have been neglecting it because I was on a Nivea kick. I'm now using up all my balms so I can order something unscented and just stick to it like I have done the Nivea sensitive. But I want to find something more moisturizing than Nivea.
Hard call for me. The "use by" date is on there because their testing has shown that the synergy of the ingredients and the preservative has shown that after one year the balm may no longer be properly preserved or the ingredients effective. Since it's an oil/water emulsion once the preservative is no longer effective who knows what bacteria/fungi or other funky things may be growing in there. Not sure I'd want to apply that to my freshly shaved skin
I was just about to say use it. After reading that post, maybe it is better to try it out on the cat first!
I knew there was a reason I have never looked for an expiration date on my shave stuff. Ignorance is bliss - I'm a happy camper!
Also those dates can vary depending on region being sold in. We have an imported Belgium beer here. 1 year before expired. Exact same beer sold in Belgium. Only it last 5 years there. I don't always take those dates serious. Especially o cosmetics like this.
In the USA it is cover your butt everyday. I would bet if any thing could happen in that bottle the date on the bottle is only a half life date worst case. It's does not go off like a timer and start growing stuff. Use it
