    Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about what's best for those with sensitive skin/razor bumps; a balm or a more astringent type. I know alcohol based ones are a no-no but am not convinced by my experience of balms and wonder it something more astringent would do a better job of keeping the skin smooth and less irritated.

    For what I know, you use them both 'cause they do different tasks.
    astringent = heals
    balm = moisturizes

    Balms are all about moisture, only use one if your skin gets dry. Astringents kill bacteria, tighten skins, and can be drying. They help bumps which are almost all bacteria related. If you need both, use both. Also, alcohol isn't necessarily a bad thing unless you don't also have some type of moisturizer. I personally like alcohol based splashes with moisturizing goodies added. TSD splashes are excellent for this type of product. Many people like witch hazel to provide an astringent effect with little to no drying. Try different product until you find something that works for you.
