I have been wanting to try "Alt Innsbruck" AS since some time but I am not very sure if I want to spend $20 + s/h (aprrox. $30) for a 100 ml decant. I was wondering if any of the members have tried making an "Alt Innsbruck" like AS. The ingredients listed on the bottle are "Alcohol, Aqua, Nicotiana Tabacum, Menthol." So, my guess is it shouldn't be too difficult. I am posting this for any suggestions/opinions before I get down to buying some stuff and making my own.

    Thanks.

A very interesting idea....my question is how would you obtain the Nicotiana Tabacum? Also, I thought menthol would've been the first ingredient...:freezing

You can buy small Alt Innsbruck AS amples from https://www.superlather.com . SUper lather has samples on many popular hard to find AS, and their service is great. I can usually get 3-4 uses out of their samples, but I think I use more product than most, so you may get even more.

On Alt Innsbruck, I love it!

If you move forward with your experiment of making a clone, keep us updated.

I love the stuff but for some reason dont keep in rotation often. I bought the 100ml decant and filled another more appealing bottle. It seems like an easy clone but nobody has tried I assume?

You know, looking back at the ingredients you listed, I'm surprised there isn't something in there for skin care - like glycerin or something. For as much as I like it as an AS, I figured there would have been something else besides Alcohol, water, scent, and menthol....

The bottle is labelled as EdC. I guess that may be one reason why it does not have any skin-care ingredients.

One option I have been looking at is may be getting some of JoAnna's unscented splash and adding the Tobacco EO/absolut to the splash. Or, may be I should beg her to make some :D

Yeah, I forgot about that...:ashamed001 It still works well, though, as an AS...weird.

That's a thought... order it with menthol added, or add your own?

That's an even better thought...although I think she's got a backlog of "special requests"....

Its an AS. EDC is another term for AS I believe but Wikipedia doesnt state. It does last a while but edt and colognes typical if ever contain menthol. There are no skin care goodies in it but alot of AS doesnt. I mix mine with TGR ASB as with all my other basic alcohol AS(without skincare goodies of course).

Ordered. Not cheap, but I was intrigued. And my AD took over.

I can certainly add the absolute to an aftershave. May try blending it with another EO, too, but nothing complicated.

The cost is the thing, but since it is an absolute diluting it in a carrier oil is usually the way to go.

Alt. Inns is a decent AS. Not at the top of my list, but a nice splash none the less. That EO sure is expensive huh?

And the Queen pulls through again! Woo hoo! I do enjoy the AI as I mentioned before but just dont use it often. As JoAnne stated....mixing it might be the key and really become a nice blend. I am on shave stuff restriction until 01/01/10 but might be able to bend the rules if this comes through.
