My first (tiny tiny) restoration project! I just got this from ebay

    http://img.inkfrog.com/click_nelarge1.orig.php?image=019_067.JPG&username=1lavender&aid=269084742

It's a BLUE DIAMOND GRAH & PLUMACHER. Looks pretty in shape, just need a cleaning and the blade could use so more polishing! And of course, when everything is done, a good hone!
I'm gonna get the razor probably this week, and then I ordered a set of micromesh pads off ebay too, for the blade.

These are the pictures off the ebay auction, im going to post some more when I receive it and of course, when everything is finished!

The Blue Diamonds are quite nice, in fact all the G&P line are known for smooth steel... I just finished up on one of their "Black Diamond" razors myself

Although I rarely do this as I feel it is a bit rude, I am going to make an expection and link to another forum, as there is just way to much info for me to type, over the last few years there is a thread that I have been tending to, and building into the largest single source of Razor Restoration information there is...

    http://straightrazorplace.com/works...w-do-i-where-do-i-what-do-i-answers-here.html

In that thread you will find the answer to just about every question there is when it comes to fixing razors, if you follow the links in there down the rabbit holes, there are huge discussions in there debating the tricks and tips...

I hope you take the time to do it right, we had a saying in the old Restore Chat "Rush a Restore, Wreck a Razor" it is a ton of fun but even more addictive then the shaving part :)

Thanks a lot for the link! A Lot of great infos there!!
But I haven't found any infos on how to clean the scale. What do you suggest? Also, i dont have a lot of tool, and less of space. Do you think it is possible to clean the scale/blade without having to remove the pins?

    Thanks!

That restore is one I did before I got real serious and it was all done with time and just my hands and a little extra polishing with a dremel,, I am looking for the one I did on a Red Imp too

Well good news! When I arrived the guy had 2 other straigth for sale, 5$ for both! The edges looks really good, the Baker even passed the "hair test".

This is the BLUE DIAMOND GRAH & PLUMACHER :

This one looks like a H. BOKER King Cutter :

It is in really good shape, not rust at all, only dark spot, pivots are tight. Heck, it's even nearly more sharp than my new dovo !

And this one I don't know, its written King Barber on the blade, and one the tail there is a little sun, with FOCUS written below and TRADE MARK around it. (Also Soligen, Germany)

This is the "worst one". Rust on the blade, but nothing a little polishing can't repair im sure. The other 2 are in really good shape. Only really small spot of rust.

I know now that I will need to remove the pins to be able to clean everything fine. I'm really scared of that! hehehe! Im going to try that on this week end. Until then, i'll polish what I can with some Blue Magic!

p.s : Sorry for my really crappy pictures. My iphone lens is all dirty and cracked!

Move the King Barber away from the others, that corrosion pattern looks like it could be Celluloid Rot,, it is very hard to prove as there are so many different formulas that were used to make the Celluloid but that telltale pattern is a warning sign...

There is no absolute test, it is one of those things you have to work through, so keep it seperate from the other two razors until you have time to work on it and figure out what is going on with that razor..

I've put it in quarantine! No chance to take hehehe! I ordered a set of micromesh (1500 to 12000) to polish the blade! Can't wait to see the final result!
