So our anniversary is tomorrow but she wanted to give me my gift now because she thought I could use it tonight. We are going off for the day tomorrow. So she gives me my gift and YAY it's a Merkur 1904. Awesome lol. Well I shaved with it paired with the merkur blade and let me tell you I love it. I was going to get a HD but this has the same head. People say it's too light but I think it's pretty heavy. Thank you honey for the awesome gift. I also had a gift of which I though she would want tonight vs tomorrow. Happy Anniversary! I've always found the 1904s to be a very attractive pair of razors myself and while they weren't on the heavy side the balance was outstanding.
Thank you. It is beautiful. Thing is maybe I haven't used enough razors yet but it fills rather heavy to me. I read where people said it wasn't heavy but seems good weight in my opinion. I wanted an HD and never looked at this razor but when my wife read that this has the same head as the HD with a better looking handle she decided to go with this one. It has a really nice vintage look to it. I couldn't be happier.
Just so you know, two razors with the same type head but different handles will often shave differently due to how they are balanced. Not saying that's a bad thing or you'll get terrible shaves, just something to know.
