A few months? I get a few weeks out of mine, tops! When it gets dull I fire up the angle grinder and give the blade a few whacks.
Wow, a few weeks, that's amazing! I got a brand new razor, took her to the hone and when I was done there was only a spine left...
The sad part is, I'm partially exaggerating. I believe I may have put a smile on my razor as part of my "learning experience" in honing. However I've finally got her to some semblance of shaving capable so I'm not exactly willing to go and try and fix a problem which may or may not have already been there from the start.
A "smile" isn't bad. the "frown" is bad. I've put smiles on lots of razors at the request of the owners. a lot of owners like shaving with a smiling blade
The thing is... if you buy enough straight razors, you only have to hone them once. Hardly any wear at all don't ya know... ..................................................................................
You should know. You have enough strs to last you what? 6 years? That would be a different razor each day.

Thanks Isaac....for some reason I've been having trouble posting here. Evidently my computer thinks the Shave Den is untrustworthy....I've gotten that fixed now.
