My girlfriend came in last night and handed me a bottle of Four Roses small batch, she was so proud. She thought she had gotten me the small batch select, bless her heart. I tried it, wasn't bad but it's no single barrel, had to add a little water to it. It will work as an everyday drinker so to speak. Think I'm gonna be a guy who likes a little sweet, and a peppery bite to my whiskey and the Four Roses single barrel has that IMO
I'm not sure what would qualify as a good mixing whiskey but when I tried the small batch one of the first things I thought of was it might be a good one to mix with, even the girlfriend agreed.
The Small Batch and Single Barrel are quite different, and some folks prefer the Small Batch even as a sipper. It was very nice of your girlfriend to think of you. It's quite interesting to see how Four Roses comes up with their different recipes. It's also a fun distillery to visit if you're ever in the neighborhood.
I think she's gonna be a keeper! I had two glasses of the small batch tonight while watching my Hogs play Texas A&M in basketball. One glass per half and I really enjoyed it. I liked it best with a touch of water added. Wondering if it'd be worth it to order some of the harder to get whiskey online. Guess it depends on how much a man is willing to pay.
I've been curious as well though my personal thought is that I won't break $75 for the enjoyment of a bottle.
Just tried to see if I could buy a bottle of Buffalo Trace online and there's no shipping of alcohol to my area . Not sure if it's because I live in a dry county or if it's the whole state of Arkansas
I think I've found my everyday drinker. Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey. Orange label. For $23.00 a bottle it's a very good pour. IMO
I'll continue to look. Did pick up a bottle of Blanton's. Haven't opened it yet but I did get a chance to try some from a friend and I'll have to say, it's really good!
