Good Scotch Book; Passing of Michael Jackson

    (not the poor-black-child-turned-rich-white-woman)

Great spirits and beer writer; Passed sometime in 2007.

Anyway, he wrote Michael Jackson's complete guide to single malt scotch.
    ISBN 0-7624-0731-X

It's a great little book, and is very specific about the Scotches covered.

    rick I'll make ya SCream!

Let me preface this by saying......I like Scotch

    Now.
For my money, Blends are just fine.
Hard to beat Johnnie Walker Black,
Chivas Regal 18 yr/old or the
    Dewar's 12 yr/old

    That said......
    Laphroiag
    Talisker and
    Lagavulin
are ones I dont mind spending some cash on from time to time.

I agree Rick. I have been enjoying a Dewar's 12 yr old Special Reserve that I received over the holidays. Not bad. Not bad at all.

No. We can agree on that too.

But do this. Buy one bottle of Gold. Put it in the freezer and then have a glass neat. Try it.

I tried that only 2/3 weeks ago and its very smokey ! you either love or hate it no inbetween a must have for the diehards. very special !

The Talisker good choice for overall whisky in the style of the Islay tradition.
I can really recommend you the Talisker 18Y Klaus you wont believe what you will experience I gave that as a gift to a friend in Sweden he was floored when he opend up his gift. I always bring him whisky. For his brother I found a special dual barrel Whisky which had been indeed been ripened in two different barrels !

Oh yeah, Rene, the Lagavulin is really, really great. I do have to say that every time: I drank and loved that one way before the hype about it started :ashamed001 Did I mention I like peat and smoke?

The 18y Talisker is also on my wish-list as are many more fine whiskies.
The Arran is also really, really great. Nut much peat and smoke, but grassy-green and really, really refined. I will most certainly follow the progress of this new distillery - they look very promising :happy088
But, you know, with me it's either shaving stuff or DVDs or whisky and during the last year my focus was entirely on buying shaving stuff. I really have to cut down there and buy more liquor :eatdrink047
