I've been flipping through recipe books I picked up from my grandmother yesterday since about 930 this morning. Planned out our weekly dinners and got a list written up as well as transferring all the recipes to my personal recipe book I started. Almost everybody else at work seems to think a man shouldn't be in the kitchen at home...I feel sorry for their significant others haha. When I get this Kitchenaid I plan on making my own flours for pizza dough's and homemade breads. Maybe I'm getting carried away but at least it's a positive passion of mine. Any of yall enjoy cooking as much as I do or am I just weird lol
I enjoy cooking. Don't do it much, but I do enjoy it. Don't like to bake. If you don't get things just right it comes out too dry, too moist, too crumbly, too flat... Cooking I just toss in some of this, some of that, hey, let's try this... Usually turns out pretty good.
Agree I do most of the cooking, and enjoy my kitchenaid...to the point where my wife said I had to cut back on making homemade breads..yeah right....and with latest gift of italian pasta machine...new obsession....trying home made ravioli this week...
Yep. Cooking is manly. The people at your work are now very suspect to me. If I didn't cook, I wouldn't eat, simple as that! My xwife was a cordon bleu accredited pastry chef, she won awards. She was damn good when she wanted to be. I learned a lot from her over the years. Learning a few basics goes a long way with cooking just about anything. Part of what I'm doing today is making a pot of vegan chili for today and tomorrow, and making an oatmeal bake for the week's breakfasts.
I think the SOTD thread has inspired a new thread. I'm going to start a thread with whatever recipe I end up cooking for the night and kind of log things. Hopefully other people will join in and we can all bounce ideas around and possibly try and learn new things.
I cook family dinners on my days off from work. In the summer, I grill or smoke meat every chance I get. The only kind of cooking I don't like so much is baking, I'm just not precise enough, and that is no Bueno for baking.
Do they think that the food is going to cook itself? Or perhaps they live on fast food, and will suffer the inevitable consequences of an unhealthy diet? Now if they are married or live with their girlfriend, it is a different story altogether. Some women prefer to do all the cooking, but most expect their husband or boyfriend pitch in and help. At least it is that way where I live. Any guy who did not help out with the cooking and chores would be considered a jackwagon and would soon be very single. I rather enjoy cooking, something which started out of necessity (moving away to college, having limited funds and a strong dislike of starvation). For the most part, I now cook things that are simple and easy to prepare on the weekend and reheat them for dinner during the week. It is something I learned from a girlfriend's sister, and it saves a lot of time.
I am a teacher and my wife works till 6-6:30 every night so I do all the cooking. Nothing wrong with a man cooking.
Well most of these so called men also cheat on their significant other so their opinions don't hold much weight. My point was just people I'm around seem to think that only their significant other should be in the kitchen unless it has to do with bbq. I love all aspects of cooking although baking is probably my least favorite since I'm not much on sweet foods. It's just funny to hear these other guys try to make me feel like less of man based on my life decisions. When they end up single they'll wish they knew how to cook something other than ramen noodles lol.
I love to cook and learn new techniques. My wife is in her second year of school to become a chef so I get to learn new things all the time. We are definitely a food oriented family. My favorite is baking bread and making pies!
