Anyone else tried the Barbasol Pacific Rush AS Balm

I picked up a 100ml tube of the Pacific Rush balm at my local Dollar General. It was less than $3, and has the Pacific Rush smell I like so much.

I have to say it has a comforting feel on my face after a shave. I've been alternating it with some of the CO Bigelow balms I snagged on clearance a few weeks back.

My favorite ritual is to shave with Godrej Menthol Mist, follow with a little Pacific Rush splash, and then finish with the balm when that dries down. Smooth

 

I haven't seen it, and as I do kinda like the Pacific Rush scent, guess I need to run into DG later....

 

I was at DG the other day and picked up the Pacific Rush. It spilled on me when I opened the bottle. I really did not care for the scent, and I could not seem to wash it off. So based on my experience with the A/S, I don't know that I would like the balm.

 

Been using the Balm the past few days and like it. Dries down without any tackiness, feels very nice on the face and has a pleasant light fragrance. And it's cheap! What's not to like?

 

I was a bit surprised and disappointed it had no menthol because the splash can cause menthol overload. I was expecting the balm to be the same.

 

I knew nothing about Pacific Rush, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. I will be getting some in the near future.

There's a little bit in the balm, it's shows way down on the ingredients listing. But the A/S splash has a bunch in it and is very cooling.

 

Yeah, I have the AS and it is nice and chilly, I guess when I get the balm I'll have to put some "additive" in it to make it a little more comparable to its AS cousin.

 

Target acquired and obtained. I added some menthol. Will check back later to see if I need to add more.

 

Let us know. I like the smell, and the feeling on my face is superb. If I can add some M-Bomb this may be balm nirvana.

 

Use the M-bomb. I used a bit of the ASB yesterday when I got it, wasn't directly after a shave but there was next to no cooling. This morning I used it directly after a shave and it was perfect after adding several menthol crystals last night. Much more like the AS in intensity.

A very good ASB IMO, even before the added menthol, but now even more so. Non greasy and dries down well and that nice Pacific Rush scent.

 

Bob, how did you add the crystals? Did you just shove a few crystals into the tube, or did you empty the balm into another container and mix it that way? I'm curious, because I would like to try it. Thanks.

 

Just twisted off the oblong cap and put about 8 medium sized crystals in it, Maybe 4 big pieces would be equivalent. You can always add more later....

 

PR balm/menthol mix process

Bob, how did you mix the crystals? Did you need to "warm" the balm any first, or did you just "squish" the tube around to mix them in once closed? How'd the process go?

 

I have both the balm and the aftershave (plus the Brisk a/s). They are nice products and available at great prices at Dollar General.

I noticed last week that the Wynn Dixie Supermarket was selling them as well but not as cheaply.

 

I'm gonna jump on this bandwagon, be it a bit late, and express my praise for this balm.

I find this stuff pretty amazing for such a low price point. As already mentioned, the balm dries down quickly without being sticky or tacky. Its got a nice clean scent that doesn't overwhelm. I actually don't mind there is little to no menthol, as I usually pair this with the splash which has plenty.

At less than $2 this is definitely worth picking up.

 

Personally I think it is so so.
When I use mine up I won't be replacing it.

 

I went ahead and bought some, and was disappointed: It didn't have the Pacific Rush aftershave fragrance as I thought it would. I like the smell of the aftershave a lot, and with the menthol blast it is my number once aftershave. (Of course the price is appealing, too.) I've never tried the shave cream in a can -- but I probably would have gotten it for emergency use if it had the same fragrance and menthol as the aftershave.

The balm has an un-offensive odor, just like a generic lotion. If I do menthol-it-up with crystals I might like it more. I do like it better than some balms, since it seems rather mild and, as some have noted, less tacky. I'll have to see how it grows on me over time.
