I have had this Watson and Sons "Service" microscope in my possession for the last couple of years. It mostly sits hidden away in what was our spare room, now my son's room. It just occurred to me its the kind of thing that some of you might be interested in! The box is a bit scuffed and could probably do with restoration, and the plating on the microscope needs the same. Poor thing
I can't quite make out the year on the label.... is that the 1880s? That is a neat looking microscope. It looks to be a well-made instrument. I certainly don't have a need for it, but considering it's age and condition, I wonder if a school or science-based museum may have an interest in it as a display?
No it's not that old unfortunately. I believe it's about 1950 ish... could even be a little newer. I don't know if anyone would want to display it in the current condition. Maybe if I can have it restored...?
http://www.nipon-scope.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=360 I found this on the internet... company selling another microscope like yours for 325 pounds. How are the optics on yours? Does it still work?
