My wife picked this up for me when she was at cosmoprof. A professional salon supply store. It says cleansing and shaving on it. I will give it a try myself but was wondering if anyone else has any experience with it.
Cleansing and shaving, made by Paul Mitchell, I'm going to guess that it refers to ladies shaving their legs. You may make a go of it on your face, but I'm going to bet that it's not a pleasant experience for you.
Good point. I think I will give it a shot anyway just so I can tell about it . After all it can't be as bad to shave with as those guys who are using borax and some other laudry bar on that other thread. Dem guys are cray-zee.
I have never tried it but I do use Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap Tea Tree Liquid Soap and Stirling Soap Co. Tea Tree Bath Soap. Also I use Stirling Tea Tree Pre-Shave Oil.
One of my son's uses the Dr's tea tree bar soap for his dandruff. Works great for him. I enjoy using Shave Secret as a Pre-Shave oil. I would like to try the Stirling tea tree Pre-Shave oil. I will take a look at there site tomorrow. Thank you for the info.
Go to any health food store, maybe even a Ralph's or a Von's, Get some NOW Foods Organic Jojoba Oil, 4 ounce, and then get some Tea Tree Oil 4 fl oz Liquid, or buy them on Amazon. Then follow these instructions. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/how-to-make-your-own-pre-shave-oil.31132/ Good Luck
Yeah, if you're just looking for a tea tree soap Dr. Bronner's is hard to beat. It's one of my favorites, as is their eucalyptus.
I have to agree. They are a little over priced, but almost every where you buy their products they are all the same price.
I use this everyday. It's part of their line that is marketed for men. It doesn't work well for shaving, but it's AWESOME for showering. The peppermint smell and sensation is wonderful. A serious word of warning, though: be careful the first time you use this. Don't get it in your eyes, and tread lightly on your more sensitive areas.
Oh how right you are. I did try and shave with it this morning as I said I would. I tried bowl lathering and I tried face lathering with my VDH boar brush from the starter set (Don't laugh it's all I have currently ). I just couldn't get the lather to last long enough on my face to shave. So after shaving less than half my face I threw in the towel and finished shaving with CO. Bigelow (green tube) to finish shaving. While I may not have found my new favorite shave soap/bar, I did find my new favorite shower bar. It smells great and from what my wife tells me is quite good for my skin in general. I can definitely see why you have to be careful of what areas you wash. This little bar packs a big punch.
While I've never tried the "Tee Tree body Bar", I do use Dr Bonners shampoo daily and I use straight tee tree oil for things like pimples, nicks and scrapes. I also make my own tooth powder and put a drop of tee tree oil on it for brushing my teeth. It seems to work well and has never hurt me that I know of. That said I would also like to second @rmcintyre83 WARNING about the peppermint shampoo, it can REALLY wake you up!!
Haven't tried The Tea Tree Body Bar, but I use tea tree oil on a regular basis. I smell like a firmented spruce tree when I first rub it into my skin...; after an hr. or so, the heavy aromatic fumes begin to dissipate into nothingness. That's when I rub in some After Shave, or lotion. It's great for "my" skin! I'll look for a Tea Tree Body Bar, soon! Thanks for the 'head's-up!" Enjoy your shaves Naponcola, Always!
a lot of the multi porpoise soaps don't seem to provide a good enough shave. as mentioned tea tree is very good for the skin and is great ingredient in a soap. some bar soap can be surprising though. I have a bar of Avon Core Elements that makes such a rich lather that I have thought of adding glycerin to it and try shaving with it. some people have had good luck shaving with bar soap.
