    Sounds like Cremo, but transparent.

My buddy gave me a sample of it. It's kind of mediocre, especially if compared to MWF or Proraso. In my opinion it is to thick and oily. But what the hell do I know?

I'm not interested. I prefer a brush and soap/or cream. If I have to, I'll use The Body Shop Maca Root brushless.

I use to use it when I shaved with cartridges and it worked well for me. I have not tried it with a de blade.

WSoML (Worst Shave of My Life) -- I just tried this today to see if it worked for me, since I got it back when I used cartridges (yes, way back about a week ago). I got it as part of a shipment from Dollar Shave Club. Thought I would be economical and use it up since I just got it a few weeks ago. Let me tell you this: Never again. If I had used it the first time I gave safety razor shaving a try, I would have gone back to cartridges immediately. I cut the sh*t out of my scalp today using this stuff. I think this is the reason it's called "Dr. Carver's"... Because you are guaranteed to butcher yourself if you use it. Now I am going to have to wait a couple of days to heal up before shaving my head again. I finished my shave today with Head Slick, which works just fine and I managed to avoid further nicks and cuts, but I had to end today's routine with plenty of styptic pencil, alum, and witch hazel to stop all the bleeding.

TL;DR: stay FAR away from Dr. Carver and his torture-device-in-a-tube.

Sorry to hear that. It might work as a pre-shave. Put it on and then lather over it with your brush.

I like it, except when I don't. Definitely not for DE shaving, I wouldn't recommend that at all.

I got samples of it when I joined DSC for a month to try it out. It's got a numbing agent in it that hides the razor burn you get from their cartridges. It gave me a great shave, total BBS. Then the numbing agent wore off and I could feel the burn like crazy.
