The guy who gave me this stuff said it takes forever to dry. I believe other species may vary due to tightness of grain.

Well, based on what this guy told you and what I had asked, then maybe try a different wood that would be "drier". However, I wouldn't know what to suggest because you have to find a wood type that is "dry" and I guess medium hardness so that you can easily shape it and also have stability. Heck, what do I know?

I usually turn with dry white birch or maple but he didnt have any pieces that big to make bowls . He sent me a pic from in the woods of the yellow birch and I replied "YES " Please. Ill let it dry out then make a smaller bowl than I intended I guess .

Wonderful Williams Wednesday shave compliments of the above lineup. The Autostrop is a darn tank . Its worn and bad looking but shaves like it just rolled out of the factory. If we only built stuff like this today. This combination really hit the spot for me tonight. 5:30 AM start tomorrow so I may not appear until the evening. Have a great day/ night gents :)

I guess you would have to go the trial and error route in order to figure it out.

I have a little Russian stainless steel on the way in. I am so excited.

I was window shopping and looked at this set about a week ago on Homelike's website. Y'all know how it is.....we all do it. ;)

This barely used set popped up tonight at a price that was hard to resist.

The Homelike Shaving "Colibri" set with four baseplates.

0.80, 1.10, 1.30 and 1.50 mm blade gap. I think the base plates are serialized with the same serial number.

Should be in soon. The set was in the States.

Yes exactly as I forgot over time what wood does what. Shameful because I spent many hard days working in the woods and many more hunting.I should know my trees better .
