    In all honesty, nobody knows for sure.
    Some have said they are numbered for the folks in the scientific/medical fields.

    I usually shave 4 times with each blade and use the numbers so I know where I am on the blade usage.

    42 is the answer to everything my friend.

    First of all the answer was 420. But putting that to bed, we can now ask if we'd be any less confused if the numbers were 5,8,2,9?
