So I ordered this razor this week. They sent the wrong handle by accident and didn't feel like waiting until Monday to shave with so I put the head on the Atlas handle. This has got to be one of smoothest shaves I've had in awhile. I don't know if it's razor, or the Kai Mild blades that I used, but it's unbelievably smooth. I honestly couldn't feel the blade. I had the SS SE1 and I felt the blade. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but this feels totally different. That's one thing you commonly hear about SS SE1, is that you felt the blade. I'm not sure if there's less blade exposure on this, but it feels different. No matter what direction I went, it was silky smooth. I'll try it the Calypso handle when I get it on Monday, but this is pretty awesome. Stan says the Windsor is even smoother than this. I don't see how that's possible, but I'm going to find out. This is the blade exposure.
I got the handle today. It looks really nice and the weight is perfect. I'm not going to lie, it is light. The weight is similar to a Micro Touch, but the similarities end there. It's much lighter than their SS version, but in this case; it works out. It feels smoother. Don't ask me how, but it does. I was using their S1 and then a Pils Sensor to against the grain. That's a razor great by the way. Yes it's cartridge, but it works really well. There's something about the handle that makes a difference. Anyway, I have no use for it anymore. I can easily go against the grain without any problems. Something I would never dream of with the slant. I did make the S1 more aggressive so that's probably why. I know most people on here probably don't need another razor, but if you're looking for a single-edged razor, I would get this. I would even recommend it for anybody just starting out shaving. It's really that easy to use. The Alumigoose is great also, but I like this a bit more and it's $3 less.
It's great that you found a razor that works flawless for you!! Congrats! I have a Stainless Steel ATT SE1 A Brass and Aluminum General The Aluminum Hawk and Stainless Steel Hawk from RazoRock OneBlade Core For my face the blade makes a world of difference, my favorite SE razor is RazoRock SS Hawk and the Brass General.
