Very nice shave Paul. You like those cart razors. I think I need to consult with the Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler, Joe, @Trigger, about developing another challenge for you following you posting your SOTD.

A DE razor challenge may be in order.

One challenge at a time Joe! He still has to produce a photo of his gear by Sept 21.
Which reminds me, I forgot to post the Paulie Photo Countdown starting Aug 2.

Oh well, Paulie's Photo Countdown: 47 days

I visited England today...in my shave, at least.

Rolls Razor 4th shave since honing
New Forest 18mm 2 band badger brush
    Mitchell's Wool Fat shave soap
    Tobbs Platinum

No nicks, cuts or weepers. A few reddened patches and an overall feeling of having shaved with a too sharp blade. Unpleasant, to say the least.

I do like Mitchell's Wool Fat, but I've found that the first week of shaves with a freshly opened puck tend to be very much not slick, but with extra cushion (Probably as a result of using the MWF hydration method to kick start the soap). It's not a problem with a DE razor, but with a straight...

It's exactly the opposite of what I want when using a Rolls Razor. It will settle in a few more uses.

Excellent post and fine shave Ryan. I have never tried MWF because I have hardly water and it has been known not to do well in mineral-laden water. However, I am sure the blade will tone down and the MWF lather will get better with continuous usage of both items.

Water hardness/softness doesn't affect MWF as much as people think it does, and it was the lack of slickness in the lather that made the blade feel harsh, not anything to do with the actual blade itself. I knew it was going to be an issue going into the shave. Normally, I would of added a bit of glycerine or a pump of Kiss my Face to give it a slickness boost, but I'm 300 miles from home.

Edit: so why did I use it? I try to use it at least once a week to keep the puck hydrated and working well. MWF is also the single product that I used early in my wet shaving journey that I still use.

    Greetings,

    (Face & head Shave.)

    Early morning shave..

I had all intention's to do a Turkish theme week, but changed my mind at the last minute, and decided to carry on for another week using my SE razors after the wonderful shaves i have had with them over them last month, with the addition of some Turkish shaving assortments to keep the Turkish theme intention in mind.

Starting the weekend off with the Gem Micromatic (OC) which is the most assertive of all my vintage SE razors. A wonderfully efficient razor that treated with respect applying good technique this vintage lady rewards you with sublime smooth shaves.

The Lider turkish boar brush i will be using with all my shaves throughout the week.. After a 5 minute soak in cold water then a quick squeeze to release the excessive water it built up a wonderful lather from the grated Arko & Palmolive classic sticks adding water to the tips of the brush until i got the consistency of which i like. The Franken-soap classic duo never fails to give a superb lather, with a equally good post shave feel.

A wonderful face & head shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a few small dollops of Arko Cool ASB.

My face & precious swede are feeling super smooth and smelling divine.;)

Stay Safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend Ladies & Gentlemen.
