What an unbelievable sad week in pro "sports" (and I use the term loosely). NBA: Tim Donaghy - wonder how deep THIS one goes? MLB: Barry Bonds - Ever see pics of Barry in his younger days? Now, he just reminds me of a pro wrestler. Yet he's about to break THE record. MAJOR * here! Pro Cycling: Alexandre Vinokourov - this guy's so stupid he didn't even dope with his own blood!! Michael Rasmussen - Wonder what he was REALLY doing in, umm, "Mexico" (yeah, THAT'S the ticket, Mexico!) NFL: Michael Vick - The worst of the bunch. At least the others only messed with Integrity. Sorry, but I just had to rant. Thanks for listening.
There have always been bad apples in sports and it's not just men. Fans have had their fair share of nasty behavior too along with overzealous parents and coaches. Although it detracts from the sport, for every bad apple there are hundreds or thousands of good athletes. History tells the story. It's easy to blame the media. Bad press is much easier and fun to report than good press. You want to make your voice heard? Hit them in the pocketbook. Boycott the games, switch off the games on radio and TV and don't buy a single endorsed or team product. Watch how fast it gets cleaned up. In the mean time, call your radio or TV station or newspaper and tell them you're tired of ugly and start reporting on some good things. Or ELSE!!!
Well, on a high note, Tony Stewart won the Allstate 400 today, and he is sponsored by Old Spice! St. Croix
and lets not forget the Home Depot where you can buy anything to make shaving related items such as shaving cabinets, brush holders and boxes to store razors in shelves. etc. Way to go Tony!!!
I was always a fan of Dale, Sr. After his passing, I've been a Tony fan. Those two are cut from the same cloth! St. Croix
