I know you guys talk about getting a BBS shave a lot but I'm just wondering if you're only ever talking about on the face? Do you guys ever manage to get it on the neck? Or at least the lower neck and around the Adam's apple? To me it seems impossible! At least not without resulting incredibly tender skin for the next few hours.
It is possible but not easy. Finally got my first bbs on my neck. Took 6 months and finally right blade, cream combination. Futur with voskhod set on 1 and blade buffering i am able to get a bbs shave on my neck without irritation.
It's definitely possible for some, unfortunately for others it isn't without ending up with irritation. Once you map your face and find out which way your hair grows on your face and especially your neck, you can make sure you are going WTG, XTG, ATG (in that order) and with a very light touch, you may be able to pull it off. Of course even with the best prep and technique it just may not be possible to achieve BBS on your neck without irritation, and you know what.........................that is perfectly ok. I got BBS all over today, but that certainly doesn't happen everyday, in fact it rarely happens and I'm alright with that. It just a bonus if it does.
The annoying thing about my neck is there are random small patches in different directions, small enough than the razor sometimes making it impossible to shave everywhere like that if I shave one bit WTG I catch another bit ATG! I surely can't be the only one with this problem? I'm thinking of getting a very small straight edge, maybe a Japanese one to see if that can get round the issue.
I can get it, but it took me awhile with technique and getting the right blade/razor combo and latherig technique. even when/if you get all the mentioned factors spot on. you just might not be able to achive it, could take time either way to find out, good luck
I sometimes get it lately, but it's purely by accident. When I would try I'd go too far. Even when I'd get it, it's gone by lunchtime. My advice is to stop worrying about BBS and just focus on no irritation.
I've gotten it before many times, but for me it's difficult because my beard stubble is very hard. Overall, it is not easy for me to get BBS because my beard in general is heavy and coarse.
I agree biggest thing is an irritation free shave. Even when i get a BBS shave within 4 hours it is no longer smooth. The best thing ive learned is just to quite after your normal passes before causing irritation. I can promise one the and it is the hair will be back.
It can't be over-emphasized the importance of knowing your whisker growth pattern....I never really got BBS's on my throat till I did... The first time I applied a wet Arko Shave Stick to my 2 day stubble...I could see exactly how my neck hair grew...and it wasn't what I had thought for many years....After that it took a concerted effort and experimentation to use my new found knowledge and get the results I wanted....For me I first succeeded with my Schick Injector in following my swervy 'adam's apple' towards the ears growth pattern....But shortly there after I was getting BBS throat shaves...My wife noticed it almost immediatly...And of course that was added inspiration to keep the neck smooth...lol It doesn't require irritating over and over passes....Just by knowing your growth pattern and keeping your WTG, XTG, and ATG passes going in the right direction....everything should fall into place...No extra pressure....a sharp blade will cut your neck hairs the same as face...you just have to have the right direction, same as you do with your face....aswell as Prep....and light touch and everything else that applies to your face....I also have to hold the skin steady behind the razor...not pull but taught....
Absolutely I agree with you on that 1,000% An irritation-free BBS shave can sometimes be difficult to achieve for many men, although I will say that I get it all the time, but after a couple of hours, I am usually no longer smooth. My beard is very dark-colored and very fast-growing as well.
Yes, although I am afraid to sometimes. If I cut myself, I get a terrible cold sweat and nausea, and it hurts me badly.............
Don't forget that you can pull and slide your neck skin all over the place too. I get a BBS quite often and my neck right off to my right side grows weird. I get around it by strategically stretching and attacking while it is stretched. I can get that skin away from the Adams apple far enough to get it without interference.
Oyyyyy, there's no way I can do any skin stretching. You cannot believe the pain I experience if I even try.
I recently got BBS shave on the neck by using the Treet version of the Wilkinson Sword Classic plastic razor. I used it doing a buffing touchup. I was totally surprised.
I'll tell you what...once it happens, its more likely to happen again....and the more it happens the more it will....and for many it will get so it happens very often....maybe most of the time..... I do find it easiest to get the irritation free BBS with my Schick Injector than my DE's...but thats just me...
