Hi i am still a newbie in all this just read my Howdy Y'all http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/howdy-yall.36165/introduction thread to learn more on that. I posted a thread on here about my 1974 Gillette Super Adjustable Black Beauty (I got for five bucks at a flea market) having bent safety bars and what I should do. On one side you could see the blade gap go in a slant then the other sides blade gap was bigger then the other. I got a lot of great advice and got a lot warm welcomes. Some said not to mess with it and get another one, some said to try using it as it was, and some said to try and fix it by sending it in or fixing it myself. Well, being the man that I am I opted to fix it myself. Using a screwdriver I gently slowly bent the bars back into place a few times until I thought it looked good enough. Now there are still some slight differences in blade gaps mind you. But, all n all it looks much much better. I posted some after pictures (but not before pics) on the Black Beauty http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/black-beauty.36154/thread I posted. Then I shaved with it. I already mentioned my shave on the other thread but I just thought it deserved its own thread right here. Forgive me but I am just copying my own words from my other thread here. Shave 1: "Thank you guys. You guys are full of great information. I posted this on other sites and I haven't had any response. So it looks like I found my home for my shaving needs here. I just had my first shave with it and it seemed pretty good. I went with the number three setting. I'm not baby smooth like I would like to be but, I'm new to the saftey razor and want to wait before going against the grain like I do with my pro glide. I'm pretty sure if I didn't bend the bars with the screwdriver the shave would of sucked. I should had taken before and after pictures to show you. I might still look into somebody else working on it for me but all and all it did a fine job. Thank you my new shaving family. " Shave 2: "Well, everybody I did a WTG then ATG shave tonight with my black beauty set on 3. I must say that was the best shave I ever had. I use a little home made pre shave oil I made, a gillette silver blue blade I got in my sample pack, and some C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream with Eucalyptus Oil that my wife picked up at bath and body works for me. Then I topped it off with some dove shave balm and a splash of Stetson aftershave (country boy with a Stetson dad. I couldn't hide form it forever lol) I am very happy with my smooth as a baby's butt face right now." "I only hope all my shaves are as good as this one. Even my wife is loving it. Thank you all for your advice. It looks like I must of got the razor pretty str8 after all." And there you have it folks. Thanks to the wonderful people on here at my new home or should I say den? I now have a pretty nice razor that I paid very little for. And I have new buddies as well. I belong to two other shaving forums and the people are pretty good there too but for some reason I am drawn here. I am glad I found this place. I can hardly wait to see what new I can learn on here. It's as good as shaving itself. Gene
