I know this forum is about taking facial hair off, not for maintaining or keeping hair on...

However, for those of you that do sport facial hair, how do you maintain it? Are there products that will help soften the hair (other than a bottle of hair conditioner)?

I always have a goatee varying from stubble to a few inches, and wanted to know how others care for their hair

I wash mine with shampoo, that's about it.

I don't really use any sort of special stuff on the goat to soften it.. just a good pair of scissors for trimming. Like to keep it real short cuz the ladies tell me it makes me look younger lol. Lately I've found the key to symmetrical mustache trim which was my equivalent to the shaving jawline nemesis. Never could get one side the same as the other. The answer lies in the angle of attack with your scissors. Like in shaving, I follow the pattern of the grow.. angling the scissors downward as a cut and viola.. perfect symmetry every time. There's actually a forum for beards it's http://jefffsbeardboard.yuku.com/ sort of an antimatter universe twin to the B&B lol. They know lots about things bearldy there. Good luck.. Joe...

I have a goatee too (cropped to about 1/2") and will wash it with shampoo in the shower like Keith says.

Lately, I've started using Noxema and Cetaphil instead of soap when I wash my face in the morning and when I get home from work. That works very well on the goatee. Instead of drying the whiskers out like soap can, it makes them soft and even shiny:)

I'll use my fingers to massage the Nox/Cetaphil into my goatee to get down to the skin. Very nice.

    Hope that helps some.

Nothin' special for my 'stache. Just wash with the same soap I'm using to wash my face ('coz that's where I just so happen to keep my 'stache), dry, and an occasional trim. Every so often I'll let it grow out into handlebars, then I'm waxing up with some home made 'stache wax - just beeswax and Vaseline melted together.

Same with me nothing special I just shampoo it with the little hair I have left:D And trim every couple of weeks with a Wahl beard trimmer set on 7. I've tried to grow handlebars, but SWMBO says "NO WAY":angry017:
