I'm really bad about remembering to take before pictures when I get a particularly nasty looking razor that ends up cleaning nicely. Well, I stumbled across this slim at a favorite store the other week. It looked like it needed a good home and a little TLC. I think it turned out pretty nice.

    Great job cleaning it up.

Be glad the previous owner didn't clean it. All the grime acted as a barrier and protected the razor from harm.

Excellent save! If you didn't do so, boil it on the stove in some water and Dawn dish liquid for about 10 minutes.. you'll be amazed at how much old soap comes out of the handle. Then spray a bit of WD40 into the handle through the blade bed and work the knob a few times. Good as new. :)

On this one it is safe and effective to boil. I boil all Slims when they are obtained. That and the WD-40 will help the mechanical assembly by displacing any remaining water! Let dry for an evening before use.

I saw the crust in the blade bed and was thinking that there was going to be some serious pitting under there.....you worked a miracle. Great job and great looking razor.

    Thank you Gentlemen!
I did this today after I got home from church, and it did knock some crud out of the handle. I was pretty fortunate that the adjustment worked fine, and I would say about 95% on the paint.

Started off with a spray down of scrubbing bubbles. Then a scrub down with an old toothbrush till all the big gunk was gone. I think I did that twice. Soaked the case in the sink with a mixture of scrubbing bubbles and water, I guess about a 25% mix. Followed up with a little elbow grease and more toothbrush.
Finished up with a polish of Maas.

If all you would have shown us was the before pictures, I would have placed a small wager that would not come clean. One heck of a nice job.
