Quick nose job on a George Johnson. Before: and after: Dremel cutting wheels & sanding drums from 60-400. Followed up with working the edge near the point on my DMT325. Oh, and the scales were snapped in half... you can hardly tell . Enjoy your projects. Tom
Some work on recent Wade & Butcher For Barber’s Use... Before (seller’s photo): After some steel wool & Flitz to see what was under there: Decided on some sanding and ended with this: Enjoy your projects. Tom
F.W.Engels 6/8+th Extra Hollow Solingen Germany This looked almost N.O.S., except for the rust, and crud all over. Someone had also scratched their initials on the scales. I had to sand the blade well, then buff it out. The scales were also touched up, a lot. It had been rattling around for 100 years, or so, without a box, so this is the best I could do. Before: After:
Thank you. There wasnt any wear on the bluing. I did find a box, on ebay, that I ordered, so it can be protected from now on.
John Jay Sorry, I forgot to take a before and have to use the one from the listing. It is blurry. Pitting was too deep so I could not remove all of it. Also, there was a hump in the edge near the heel. Had to grind to even the entire edge to a straight blade. Started on the geometry with a 400 grit stone. Then a 1000, 3000, 8000, 12000 and finally a 15000 whetstone. Edge is sharp enough for a great shave. Still haven't made a shadow box for good photo's. But here it is anyway.
A quick scale replacement... Max Dorner 65 that I was making some scales for but I stalled out. Then this Boker blade showed up, and I thought I had a cool match. Had to be careful with the removal of the blade, but they survived. When it is sitting in the scales, the design on the blade seems to flow well with the scales. Or Enjoy your projects. Tom
Thank you Claude. Had the pinning stuff out so did one more transplant... The Wade & Butcher was in the scales to the left, so took the scales from a busted Geo. Rodgers on the right. Fits decently, does sit up a little high, but not too uncommon from the ones I have held. Used the old collars from the Wade at the pivot but didn’t mess with the wedge end. I enjoy these older W&B wedges. Enjoy your projects. Tom
Looks good. You can take that broken Rodgers razor, angle out the broken area, and make a Japanese Style folder out of it. They like to take new ones, and lop off the heel area. No use wasting a salvageable razor. ..
You read my mind... started hitting it with the dremel this afternoon. I don’t personally like leaving the stabilizer, so it will take a little finessing.
W.H.Morley & Sons Clover Brand. Germany 11/16th Full Hollow Not a lot to do, But it cleaned up nicely. Almost too shiny for a good shot. Before: After:
CVH MK No.30 with Ivory scales. Dropped on the bathroom floor 28 years ago ( did not catch it ) finally I took the decision to shorten it. Quite nice result, first I thought that it should have the same shape as original but I made it a little bit more square in the nose. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
I would swap out those scales, for something else. Then use the ivory scales on another full sized razor. Those are sweet looking scales.
