Received this in the mail on Friday. Bought this razor to shave with on my wedding day...no sooner. It's going to be hard to resist the temptation, but I really want to commemorate my big day with a brand new razor. I'll keep this one forever and probably pass it down. Here are some pics I took. Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! I'd say you picked a fine razor for the special occasion. I almost got the Barley when I started DE shaving, but opted instead for the smooth handled 8911. It will be hard to resist using beforehand. Do you have a blade picked out? What DE are you using now?
Congrats on the upcoming wedding! Very nice razor there. Is the barley with knurling on the handle new? I went with a Muhle R89 for my first razor just because I wasn't sure about the smooth handle or even the lined one I saw on the EJ's. If I had seen that one I might have gone with it.
Thank you! Hey, hey, hey...Thanks! I don't believe the knurling is new...I think that the knurling is what makes the Barley...the Barley. It will be hard to resist, for sure! But I plan to stash it (out of sight, out of mind). Then set an alarm on my smartphone to remind me about it a week before the wedding Right now, I'm choosing to use a Voskhod blade. TSD member Ryan B suggested I try Tabac cream, so I may use that on the big day...pending how it goes after I try the sample of it that I ordered from the TSD Store. Right now I my razor is the RazoRock Mirror pole 3pc which I like very much! Time to find a hiding spot...
