OK, we seem to have some really good straight razor experts on here. Can anyone tell me which modern manufacturer makes the best "quality made" straights currently. I won't go into artistic because that is very subjective.
Would the Maestro Livi fall under artistic? I am not an expert and all of my straights are vintage but IMHO Dovo's, TI's and the new Henckels could be given consideration. Raf
Ok, WOW! I mean, do you shave with that thing, julienne fries, or what! But seriously, it really is a beaut...a work of art. I hope this isn't a dumb question, but how do you store/sheath that blade?
Both are really good. Dovo makes excellent stainless blades and TI's Sheffield blades are awesome. Now if you want to go into "artistic" or custom.. Either Bill, Maestro or Robert Williams. Although I have to admit that I´ve never used a razor from either of those people.
Bill thats pure shave PORN display !!!!!!!! :signs021 Drooling Danger . Bill have you thought of going into Cooking Knives ? even though I know you would have like an impossible chance to try to out do Blade masters in Japan they live for STEEL..... but you are certainly skilled enough .
razor makers from here... bill you forgot to mention the 'big bugger' you made, now IMO thatwas a kewl razor....but thats me.. simon:drool
Beautiful work Bill!! :drool I've also seen a preview of Mr. Chandlers up and coming razors.....Very Nice I'd also say TI or Dovo, for production stuff...I may try a new Henckels too sometime, although their pretty plain.
Simon... thanks... this is for those who haven't seen the 12/8 I made for Josh. a little big for me... I do ok with a 5/8
for the question of storage and between uses, you just get Vlad to make ya one of these... That's not two boxes. The bottom holds the spring loaded cradle. I'm tellin' ya, McGyver could learn twice what he knows from Vlad. He is definitely a talent. I have some of his boxes on my web site if any of you are interested...
And anybody who thinks that razor ain't an inspiration for me, don't know sheep dip from wild honey.:drool
