Big old Sheffield wedge - marked R. Sutcliffe

    Gugi sent this my way.

    Look at the magnificent size. Take careful notice of the tapered tang (well, I guess you can't see it from these photos. I'll have to take another spine-on photo.) Check out those bullseye pins and the robust horn handle.

    What a beauty. Nice shave, too :)

    I have not found an R. Sutcliffe maker during the period I believe this was made. I wonder if it was simply rebranded for Sutcliffe - there were some who owned Sheffield stores in the mid 19th century. Anyway if you have info, please share, thanks

    edit: blade is 9/8" from edge to spine

    I really need to get my hands on a pure wedge. I have a few that are only slightly hollowed, but I'd like to find a real wedge.

    I have the wrong friends. :(:(
