Anybody else obsessed enough with RAD to hunt these down? I found a nice looking razor for my birth year (Slim Adjustable -- I ain't telling you the year) a while back and, just recently, one for my wife's also. My wife is a bit younger than me, and was born when Gillette was transitioning to cartridge razors, so hers was a little harder to locate. Nonetheless, through my eternal perseverance, I succeeded in scoring a long-handled Super Adjustable that matches her birth year and quarter. So, who else has gone as far off the deep end as me?
I'll be honest...I thought about it when I was collecting DE razors. But then I got hooked on collecting straights and now I look for stuff a WHOLE lot older than I am.
I purchased a birth year adjustable aristocrat (gold slim) a couple weeks ago, shaved with it once, and now I don't really want it any more. At least I'll probably get back what I paid for it when I sell it.
I was born in 1957 which was probably a good year for DEs. How would I go about finding these razors?
You would be looking for a razor with a C date code. What month were you born? that would determine what quarter you were looking for. Try posting a wtb inthe classifieds.
Found myself a G-1 Fatboy. You do the math. I also bought my brother a an O Slim adjustable for his birthday.
I have 2 examples of my birth year razor. In fact it was the search for my BYR that got my RAD started. It is part of my regular rotation. In fact I used one today.
