I'm not black. But my first convert to wet shaving is. I haven't seen any threads on about skin and hair of black men. One of my ex-coworkers is black and said he spent years finding a shave that works for him. He uses straight razor system that uses plastic blades. For his preshave, it was a facial scrub. I was wondering has anyone been able to use this product called Black Cream. Does it make is easier or better shave compared to other products? I'm thinking of buying it in the near future from grooming health UK to test it out on me and a few black friends I know.
Yeah, I seen it on UK web sites. Here is the link when I first saw it. http://www.grooming-health.com/gifts-for-him/black-skin-shaving-cream.htm
Interesting. I know that many african americans do have a hard time shaving. Could be interesting. Sounds like its just very moisturizing. Rub some conditioner in your beard while in the shower and leave it there till you're about to get out.
Plastic straight razor -- sounds like he used a depilatory cream. The depilatory cream would be followed by the plastic blade to wipe away the cream and facial hair.
Yep, the plastic blade is part of a depilatory cream routine. Here in the states, this one is the most common: The only traditional style cream/gel that I'm aware of that is marketed specifically towards black men is Bump Fighter shave gel: You can find it pretty easily. My local Wal Marts carry the entire Bump Fighter line, which I have to say is pretty quality stuff no matter what race you are. If you are like me and have an ultra thick beard, the Bump Fighter disposables are one of the only disposable razors you can roll with. The regular BF razor is basically a single bladed Trac II that's about the closest thing to a DE razor you can get in a cartridge format. The shave gel, however, I have never tried. Bump Fighter used to make an aerosol cream as well, but I don't see that on the shelves anymore so it must have been discontinued. The cream had a really weak lather and stunk heavily of aloe and lanolin; it was also quite mentholated.
