I recommend a soda can. Every blade I have used since I was a dedicated to the earlier way of shaving(2003). DE, SE, injector, and AC blades have all gone into the soda can I started with and there is still plenty of room. All blades cleaned before placed into the can. Attached a picture. I have to shrink each picture significantly to upload.
I keep used blades in a prescription pill bottle. When it fills up (takes me a year), I transfer them to a sharps disposal container at a place where we stay occasionally. Local laws allow me to place blades in a sealed/labeled hard plastic container and throw them in the trash, but I never felt good about doing that.
Here in Florida, ground moisture makes short work of anything buried so mine go at least a foot deep in a remote empty field along with -- nevermind
I go to the grocery store and buy the cheapest can of broth of some sort. I cut a slit in the top of the can, drain the broth for cooking use. I run water with some dish soap into the can to clean it out. After letting it dry (slit side down), it is ready to use. That makes a cheap, sealed sharps container for blades. It will store a lot of blades. I am on on my first can and have been using it for years. Once it is full, I will tape over the slot, tape some warning label on the side and toss it in the trash (unless I think of a better way to dispose of it). I put all my scraper blades and utility knife blades in it as well.
I repurposed a 16 ounce peanut butter jar. Cut a slot in the lid and epoxied it shut. It’s been in use since May 2014 and is rapidly approaching full.
