This has no doubt been asked a thousand times. How often should I change a blade. I shave 3 times per week, 3 pass shaves, old man grey wire stubble.
It's totally up to you. Do what works best for you. For me: I'm a daily head shaver and I'm one and done as far as blades are concerned. Welcome to TSD! Paul
What Paul said. Keep using the blade as long as you are getting a good shave from it. For me, tugging is usually the first sign of decline and the blade will be done for me at that point... Also, welcome to TSD....
I generally begin to feel tugging at about 5-8 shaves on a typical DE blade. Also depends on the brand.
Thanks for the replies, I have decided to use a blade 3 times and chuck it, seems to be about right for me
I use a DE blade until it won't shave well, with my beard that's about a week. An injector blade will last me a month before it needs changing. Sent from my SM-A526U using Tapatalk
After you have used any given brand for a while, you will have a pretty good idea of its life span & hopefully, chuck it before it becomes irritating.
It really just depends on what works best for you. I am a daily shaver, old man whiskers and I change my DE blade every Sunday. I could probably stretch it a couple of days, but its easier to just change the blade every Sunday.
3-10 shaves depending on which blade it is.i shave daily but have 8 or so loaded razors in rotation; basically when the blade feels tuggy it gets binned.
Regardless of low cost, personally I don’t like waste, a philosophy I no doubt inherited from my parents, who came of age during The Great Depression. So I let the blade tell me when it’s time to change. As soon as I feel a tug or bit of rough feel, I’ll change, sometimes in the middle of a pass. That might be after 6 shaves, or 10. I have gotten more than 10 shaves.
TUGGING. As others said, as soon as you experience tugging, get a new blade even when you are in the middle of a shave. As a reference point you may use 5 shaves.
If you find blades usually start tugging during the 6th shave, change it after the 5th shave, then you'll never have to experience the unpleasant tug.
I have found 4 x 3 pass shaves to be right for me, I shave twice a week so a new blade every 2 weeks, thats 26 blades a year which is not expensive at all and I have enough blades to take me well into my 80s. Thanks all for your help
