All are Omega boars except the Synthetic Omega in the red handle. The black "Gio" brand is a local pure bristle brush. Very thin and sparse knot, does the job but nothing much to talk about. I suspect that recession arrested their export market and hence the surplus stock got diverted to the local market.
Actually I was wondering the same....Thats a cool Omega collection.Do you buy them locally or through internet?
I have one single humble Semogue Silvertip which is feeling very lonely and intimidated from its boar cousins, hence I keep it out of this photo I intended this to be a boar only photo, but my 6-year old kept on persisting me to include the bright red brush in it, and it was easier keeping the brush rather than persuading her, so ... I buy them locally and trust me you don't want to know the price I get them for here. All I can say - the price in the online stores is high compared to what I pay... This time I went there was a flood of new stock including the #48 and #49 and so many others. I randomly look at what catches my eye and pay for it, and btw I dont have to plan and fill my wallet with dollars of cash before I go to buy one. I spend on them and still have money for many many more
Lucky you my friend!I can pick up some Vie Long boar brushes locally, but if I tell you the prices you will laugh, theyre so expensive. Are you gonna get the 48 and 49 too?
I might I have my eye on the curvy handle red handle with the boar bristle too. I might as well pick up the professional too. The last time I held it and was awed by its loft size. Its taller than my 310XX series too and like you know the only shave soap I have is the humble Godrej Shave round.
Very nice, buddy. I have the same one with the wood handle and gold trim (1st brush pictured). Do you know what model that one is?

That my friend is the 11150. The golden ring is pretty, but plastic - not metal as it appears. Currently this is my fav shave brush too As you can see I only have two of the wooden models pending in this range. The 11126 was also available when I bought the 11137, but then my wife gave that look, which we husband species recognize universally !! Maybe next time, I intend to have all the wooden handles in the link displayed up there...
hi beboo thanks for the thread into the omega pic,s really fab:: i like my omegas but never so many together fantastic,we dont have the choice like that in the uk,my omega brushes have never let me down on performance i really like them, thank,s for the high light to collection many,a that i am about to imbarc,:happy093
Have you ever used a brush the size of the professional? If not you may have trouble going back to your other brushes! I'm hooked on my 49 and can't imagine going back to a 'short' brush now like my VDH's which I loved at one time. These long bristles just cover my face and feel so good it's amazing. I only need enough lather for one pass on my face and two below the jaw line but I promise you there's plenty for 5 or more passes if I needed them.
When I first got mine, the first few shaves I actually wished the bristles were a tiny bit shorter. Guess it was just being unacustomed to the feel as I had been using the VDH (green handle) for a good while. Don't know if it was me getting used to it or the brush getting broke in good but after the first week or so I had absolutely no desire to shorten those bristles or go back to my VDH. I've been using my 49 now since february you can see my full review HERE, I mention in it that I wished the bristles were a little shorter but I got over that. I recently decided to use my old VDH just for comparison and it was like using one of those brushes they make for scrubbing your car tires compared to the 49. Not good. So keep us posted on your experience, I can almost guarantee you'll love it. Just a couple of tips, when I got mine the odor was fairly strong but after three days it was completely gone with regular use. My particular brush has lost maybe five bristles in the entire time I've had it and I can't remember when the last one was, it's very well made.
Excellent and exhaustive review. Thanks for the link. I notice that the ebay link is now dead. You may want to go back and change the link to this
Its not so much about the quality. The 310xx is really a fantastic and soft loft. The 11150 is just a small step below the 31XXX loft. I prefer it due to its nice, curvy wooden handle
I'm a software developer working in the states on a project with offshore resources. When you said that the Omegas are not expensive in India, my first thought was "I hope they send me to India to do some work." From your other threads it looks like there are some high quality shaving soaps and gear coming out of India. If I don't get sent for work, I may just have to convince my wife that's where our next vacation should be
Manish,I like the wood handle too, plus a shoter loft.If I had a collection like that I would be shaving all day
