Got off the plane last night and picked up my bag from baggage claim. Get to the hotel and check in. Head to the room and unpack the gear. Lo and behold, my Moss Scuttle (thanks TJ!) was in various pieces in the bubble wrap I pack it in when I travel. Apparently something HEAVY must have hit my suitcase at the exact spot the Scuttle was. Ugh. I've traveled with it (and a lathering bowl too) about a dozen or so times without issue. Guess its time was up. I'm on the prowl for a replacement.
Ive really been debating getting another Moss scuttle to replace the one i sold. I would go with the small version this time though.
If it's just in pieces, and not powdered, you can easily repair it (though it will likely bear a scar or two). Or if you don't want to attempt the crockery repair, send it my way . . . I'll pay your shipping, and if it's reparable, hey, a scuttle on student budget!
Bite your tongue lad. I'd be able to buy 10 bottles of Velva for the price of a replacement Scuttle. Hmmmm... actually that's not a bad idea! Currently debating between the two -- leaning towards the Dirtybird one. From the various reviews about them, the DB seems to perform more closely to the Moss version I'm used to. I've imposed a moratorium on purchases... but does that include replacing hardware damaged?
Sorry it's broken, but I have to ask...why would you travel with a scuttle and bowl in the first place? Too heavy, too fragile. If you MUST have warm lather, why not buy a Corell bowl (lightweight, cheap, virtually unbreakable) and float it in the sink. Just a suggestion...
Sure... ya tell me that NOW. When I get a replacement Scuttle, I'll definitely keep it at home from now on.
I have encountered the same thing, but mine broke during shipping. I used some powerful epoxy to repair it and it is now dubbed the FrankenScuttle lol. Still works and doesnt leak
