I basically just put my brush handle down inside my Ayars bowl. Was wondering if people would like to post what kind of holders they use and show us some pics.
This one is my favorite: And I also like this one, but it only fits certain (smaller) brushes. Its made my Muhle Pinsel and cost about 25 bucks: Then there's this el-cheapo plastic one, also for smaller brushes: .....but for the most part, my brushes sit standing up on the handle
The coat hanger was pure genious, Joe. :happy088 I have two in stands, the rest just sit on their bases. The ones in stands are there only because: a) one came with a stand already, and b) the other has writing on the base (C&E best badger) and looks nice in the stand.
I use one stand for my Edwin Jagger silvertip so the writing is rightside up. (If I stood that brush on the base of the handle, the writing would be upside down.) Otherwise, all brushes stand on the base of the handle.
Cant take ANY credit for this one..... I hang mine upside down from my Shavery Cabinet via Shoelaces.
All my brushes stand on their bases....except for 12 hours or so after they have been used. Wet brushes I hang on either a Kent chrome or plastic brush holder until they are dry.
brush holder As far as brush holders go ,mine is a coat hanger as well however a little more refined Kind regards Peter
Hanging brushes Well.. I got my shedding brush replaced today from C&E (no problems).. But when i was there, the saleslady was extolling the virtues of hanging the brush * always *.. Does it really matter? Does the brush suffer greatly if not in a stand? I'm sure the fellow science geeks may say something about the capillary action of the badger hairs, but I ask the masses for their experiences with this. I'd like my brushes to last for a lifetime, as it were, and all I can do to make it happen, I will. Whether by stand or by coat hanger. C
Yes, they are notorious for that Not in my opinion, unless of course, you have a natural(wooden) handle. While a brush sits on its handle, Capillary action will remove any excess water in the hair that might remain after a good shake(s).
Thought so. Whaddya know, mother was right, I guess I would use my school gained knowledge in real life. :rofl
I'm not very good at bending coat hangers. So I made my own out of some scrap aluminum. Lathes and milling machines are wonderful things and so is Mother's polish. [vbpg]302[/vbpg] http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1267&stc=1&d=1184907781
