With my collection of shave brushes getting larger, and counter top space at my shave place getting smaller, I had to do something about it. Looked around the net and got sticker shock at the prices of some of the stands I saw. So it was off to the garage. Scrounged around the wood pile and found a suitable piece of honey locust and started making some saw dust. Then I slapped on a coat of stain I made to match the cabinetry and two coats of sanding sealer. Light sanded before two coats of Diamond polyurethane finish. Not quiet done with it yet, in a couple days it'll get a final light sanding and some rotten stone and waxed. I have a little rectangular brass dish that fits nicely on the top, might keep my alum block there.... dunno yet though. Here's some pics:
Who cares about the stand?! Just look at those BRUSHES!!! :drool Just kidding (well, sort of). Nicely done! I could use something like that myself!
Some exotic woods coupled with some neat designs and I'd think they would sell well I like the dual brush idea as well, pretty original
I normally don't wander far from the razor or restoration threads, and spotted this one by chance. I'm glad I found it. Great job on the stand. I really like it. Make them stackable and you'll really be in business.:signs021
Ya know...... you guys got me thinking, and it hurts. And then there's the price...... I would want to keep it as low as possible, and it would be based mainly on the type of wood. I'll have to be making a drive to Stockton to see my wood buddy. But, for the moment I've got some laying around I can use. Maybe I'll go get busy and whip one up and post it here in the classifieds. I'm off to make saw dust...........
How high should I stack it Bill? :rofl Stackable? To hold maybe 4 or 6 brushes? Gonna sleep on this one and keep my note pad with me at work tomorrow. Oh, almost forgot..... got number 2 done and 2 coats of sealer drying........ I'm off to bed now.
Ok, here's one that I think I might stick up in the classifieds. It's made of the same wood as the first one, Honey Locust. Made a couple changes, made it 3/8" taller, helped keep other stuff from coming in contact with the bristles while sitting on the counter. Not sure yet what to ask for it yet, but I'll post it in the classifieds soon. Here's the pics: I am working on a STACKABLE version..... ask Bill for details :rofl It's still in development stage. I just wonder how high will be safe to stack the units, again, ask Bill ot
