I like all my brushes but if I had to choose I would pick Badger then Horse then Boar.
Haven't tried a synthetic yet (I'll get around to it soon enough)

I've never had a badger or synthetic that I liked as much as a boar.

    I really enjoy the boars…
I truly enjoy the softness of the silver tips…
Synthetics seem to be my common go-to brush now.
If I had to chose just one……………….probably a boar brush.

I have not tried a synthetic bristle brush yet...hmmmm...I can feel my resistance weakening.

I have 1 each of badger, boar, horse and synthetic. My ranking is as follows:
    1. Synthetic (mine is a TGN knot). I like not needing to soak and it whips up a fine lather every time.
    2. Badger (mine is a finest). I really like the bloom and great way this brush makes lather.
    3. Horse (mine is a Vie-Long 13061M). When I make the time to soak this one, it is my favorite brush. Scrubby, sure but it feels good on my face.
    4. Boar (Omega 10066). This is a great standby and really helps burn through the hard soaps I've accumulated.

I am most likely wrong, but using a synthetic brush would be like eating Turkey Bacon.:signs002:

Lately I've been using a Whipped Dog and a Satin Tip. Both are strong performers providing great lather and a great feel on my face. Best thing is they don't shed.

Im a boar guy. Natural hair just works better to me than synthetic.

Started with a VDH boar. A few weeks later got my Plisson synthetic and used it exclusively for about 5 months and had my silvertip made. I love it but my Plisson just face lathers better.

Badger/Boar. I use my synthetic for the more challenging soaps. (Mystic Water, for example)

I rotate badger, boar and synthetic. I prefer badger for face lathering. The board and synthetic are my preference for bowl lathering. I would have a hard time picking a favorite.

Yes. I use Turkey Bacon several times a week for breakfast. Not too bad but not the real thing. That is how I kinda view the synthetics. Sure, I have not used a synthetic but cannot bring myself to purchase one.:scared011:

Boars all the way (15 of them), with badgers and synthetics a distant second. And I have exactly one horse hair brush.

Ive got some of each but will reach for a badger brush more often than not. I do have several vintage mixed bristle (badger/boar) that I really like and bet would have been stellar new.

Yes, I was once under the belief that incorporating a man-made brush into my morning shaving regimen was something to reviled and looked upon with disdain. Some less-than-stellar experiences with older synthetics proved me to be in my right mind about them. But then…three band syns came about and I had an epiphany! These new synthetics are fantastic! Boarish brush snobs may still look down upon these new kids on the brush block, but that, I'm afraid, is their loss.

Turkey bacon is something birthed from Hades…

You would be surprised. While my first choices are Badger and Boar, my Simpson CH2 Synthetic really whips up finicky soaps, such as Mystic Water and MWF like a champ. Dries fast too, which makes it an ideal travel brush. Don't forget the old saying: "Don't knock it until you try it" ;)
