Can anyone help me identify/date this? Could it be a soap stick canister, or perhaps a travel brush holder? Bottom reads, "JARCC DIST. CORP. NY. U.S.A." Thanks!
I would guess due the number of holes, I think it's for the soap. The shaving brush container generally has more holes.
Soap. With a little modification (drill holes) and the brush fits it would work as a travel brush holder.
Nope, it is definitely a Gillette Tech razor, tooth brush and tooth paste container for travel. I have the exact same container which contains those items and apparently was a give away item as it is marked "Penn Builders Supply Co." . No room for anything more---like shaving soap. The container I have was unused.
Interesting I would have guessed a shave stick container as well. After reading @oldjoe comment I did a bit of research on ebay and sure enough there was the travel tube and Ball End Tech razor minus the toothbrush and paste. The tube was marked "Kutsher's NY". I could only find the one in my limited search, so it maybe rather rare.
Wow, oldjoe, I did not know! In fact, when I bought it from an estate sale (answering your questions, Sara-s), it contained an old Gillette blue blade and a 1953 Tech Ball End razor! I just thought they were bundled together, but not related! Do you have pics of your set, oldjoe? Would love to see it!
I tried to drag and drop a couple of pictures of my set but I keep getting the message that the file is too large. Uploading a file didn't work either. so with no pictures: The ball end tech is Z 1, which I think is 1979, the last year for the tech. No blades present when I got the container-set. Probably the only thing that got used from this set. The razor is most likely unused and is in stunningly good shape. The tube of tooth paste was starting to leak so I rolled up the bottom of the tube to seal the leak and wrapped it with a piece of a paper towel. The small short toothbrush is unused. The container looks exactly like yours but with the printing of "Penn Builders Supply Co." on the top cap. There is a hole centered in the top and bottom sections. Sorry I'm not computer savvy enough to include the 2 pictures I have?
HA! No worries, oldjoe! Your description was great, and a big thanks to Enrico for the info that it's a `54!
