No current production besides a few Treets?

If memory serves, Feather makes (or made) a Carbon option.

For DE I thought Treet was the only in production option. I haven't tried them yet.

Treet is one I know of. I think there are some other Chinese carbons still being made. Maybe an Eastern European blade too. I think the brand is called Tiger? Don't quote me. I'm going off of memory.

I use the old ones. Some are good and some are terrible. It took me awhile to amass a supply of the good ones but I did it and it is old stock carbon all the way for me.

The Treet someone gave me was just fine, fully comparable with the best vintage carbons, but no better than I can recall.

My Man Don. What ones were they? Are the Blacks, dura-sharp, classic and silver all carbon?

I bought some Flying Eagle carbon blades made in China. The looked very black blades with grey writing

    But

    Worst blades I ever used.

The classic was what someone gave me. Haven't tried the others.

Treet Double Edge, the "black beauty" is a very good blade. Durasharps and the Silver not so much. The Classic isn't bad.

I've said it before and say again: the old (not the current) Silver Star are the gold -- okay, silver -- standard for carbons, including the best Gillette's, which they easily equalled.

I've used mint brands from as far back as the '30s. Sure, there have been a few bum blades here and there but, for me, I recall no brand in itself has ever performed so badly that I'd never use it again. Carbons are rather different from stainless but if you know that going in, they're fun to shave with.

The Dura Sharp and Black Beauty blades gave me horrible shaves in a Merkur 34C - rough and extremely uncomfortable. In an Edwin Jagger DE89L, the Dura Sharps gave very good shaves and are one of my favorite blades. In the DE89, the Black Beautys gave shaves that were comfortable but not close. I have never used the Balalaka, and so cannot comment on their performance. I noticed no difference between carbon blades and stainless blades as far as shaving performance goes, at least not anything that could be attributed to the steel type used. I have also never had blades of any sort rust, carbon steel included.
