hey guys... I just cant use a de its too harsh for my skin.. I now use mach3... Can u guys tell me which is the best catridge razor out there???
Sorry I can't tell you that...I stopped with Trac2 after I discovered "traditional" shaving and have never looked back...I will say this however I.M.O. More blades don't necessarily equal better or closer shaves, DE shaving isn't too harsh for you face, you simply need to find the correct technique, razor and blades that fit you, Also how is your preshave prep? That can make quite a difference in the comfort and closeness of your shave no matter what razor you use... Time,Technique,Practice and Patience are the keys, I hope you'll give it(DE,SE, Injector or Straight shaving) another try......
I agree with Eddie completely - more blades don't necessarily equal a better/closer shave and DE shaving isn't too harsh for your face. In reality, after using a DE and getting to know how to use it, I discovered that cartridges were actually harsher on my face. With the DE I was finally able to go against the grain for a smoother shave without irritation - something I could not do with cartridges.
I used to think that a DE was too harsh on my skin as well. Sounds like you just have to slow down and work on your technique with a DE. Just slow down, no pressure, avoid ATG passes, make sure your lather isn't too dry, find the right blade for your face, and practice.
The best cartridge system ever is the long out of production Wilkinson Bonded razor. One blade, very sharp, smooth and long lasting. I love using mine, very similar to an injector.
I don't want to sound like I'm piling on here, but one of the first lessons I had to learn in switching to DE from cartridges was that I couldn't use the same amount of pressure the cartridges had taught me to use. Go as gently as you can while still noticing the auditory feedback from the blade, and your technique will improve, while your irritation will diminish.
kemon ascho. Like everyone says I'd you feel a DE Is harsh how can you stand three blades? Anyways if you insist try sensor excel or Mach3.
actually i have mild acne problems... 3 or 4 pimples keeps showing up on my face... Last time i used a de it got cut... But the catridges went fine.. I do want to use a DE as they r so cost effective... But wat to do with the acne prob?? Any suggestions?
I shave after a bath in morning... I use a palmolive shaving cream and a shaving brush to lather up...
The "use less pressure" advice holds here, too. In addition: Use a good facial wash before you shave - I like Neutrogena, but I don't know what's available near you, rinse the lather thoroughly, and use alum and witch hazel after, followed by an aftershave splash rather than a balm, and you'll go a long way toward keeping your shaving from contributing to your acne issues. I know it worked for me, though I now use a balm.
Dada, some tips. I used to also suffer from Acne and a recurring fungal infection. Here's something a friend (who incidentally happens to be a dermatologist suggested). Use Vicco Turmeric Foam Base to wash your face in the morning. Prep your face and shave apply your lotion/ splash etc. Buy a tube of 'Fourderm' cream (cipla). Take a dot of this (about a peanut size) on your palm. Add equal amount of drinking water. Mix it. Apply this with your fingers to your cheeks and face. Keep rubbing with fingers till all the cream disappears. I did this for a couple of weeks and have had no problem since (almost 6 months now).
OK here's my .02 cents worth ... I have tried almost every razor out there and I really wanted to love the DE but it was too harsh on my skin, the Mach 3 was ok and as a bit of a joke I got a Fusion at the supermarket one day when they were on sale. The price of the cartridges is silly but I can get one to last a month of great shaves. Overall it's the best razor I have ever owned and might soon be my only razor. Razors aside preparation is the key to a good shave and just generally looking after you skin is a good idea, that means washing it and using moisturizer if you need to.
fusion is good but too pricey... I recently tried the gillette p2(indian name for trac2) and was amazed.. The shave was amazing.. And much less costly than the mach3 and fusion.. Looks like i found the razor i was looking for... DE is the cheapest but way too harsh for my face
I haven't seen any twin blade razors for sale here in New Zealand but someone recently recommended a 3 blade disposable as being better and cheaper than the Fusion so maybe I'll test drive a few of those. Might try a twin blade disposable to if anyone has a suggestion. We can still buy Sensor blades here but not the handles ... go figure!
i had acne when i was younger, bout 8 or so years ago, i used proactiv and they were all cleared up. buy that stuff man, it will definetly help.
