Cheap, simple, but good

    Cabbage, polish sausage, seasoned butter beans, onion, butter, bacon grease, s&p. Let it cook down together. Mmmmm.

    Yalp. That right there is mighty fine eating. If you were over my way, it would be mustard greens instead of cabbage, and some skillet corn bread and red tea.

    That looks great, I like simple one dish meals, and like the suggestion of serving over rice. A small amount of fresh cut up cow horn pepper (moderately hot with great flavor, not just heat) sautéed in with it would work nicely. Otherwise, maybe a dash of cayenne pepper.

    Cold out, so...

    2 cans seasoned butter beans
    1 can Great Northern
    1 can blackeyes
    1 can Campbell Steak N Potato soup
    I chopped ring sausage
    1 handful crumbled bacon
    1 tbsp butter
