More of a thinking out loud post:

Having accomplished more than most people my age (these days), I find myself thinking about what classic car I want to have when I retire.

I know I want it to be a Thunderbird, but I can't decide between the '55 and '57. I've always loved the look of classic cars, how they have their own personality. (Same is true of today's luxury cars...just not the economic cars) I have also loved the early Tbirds. (I found out years ago that my grandpa used to own a '55 I think).

Anyway, I'm just curious what you all think (I'm leaning more towards the '55)?

    1955 - 100% class:

1957 - sweet tail fins and porthole windows :

I should admit, that if I ever had the money I'd go for a 4th generation too! ;)

I like the 57. But they are all head turners.

This is what I drove in college. 1969 Mark III Triumph Spirfire. I don't know if that counts as a classic. But, I loved it and it turned heads too. Mine was red but had wire wheels with quick change lugs.

This is my dads 58. I like the square birds a bit more than the early 50s models. But if you have to choose fins never go out of style.

4th gen birds had to be kept clean at all costs. As is (was?), they were so close to critical mass ( a 2 ton 2 seater?) that it didn't take much for them to collapse in on them selves. In an effort to dispose of those that did collapse into black holes, Ford later sold them as "Pintos". :D

The car I had when I was 18. A 78 T-Bird. Would love to have one of those again.

1978 Trans Am T/A 6.6, WS6 package, Caiger SS mags, sweet ride. I bought this just before I married the blonde standing next to it, 35 years ago. I wish I had kept the car, I still have the wife. ;-)

Mine was a new '70 Firebird. Orange with black vinyl top, black interior.
Similar to this photo but mine was cooler!

    I prefer the 1955 T-Bird.

Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

I had a 1972 Pinto. Needless to say, I didn't keep any pictures of it and don't regret getting rid of it one damn bit.:(

    It's a no-brainer, you should get both.

I want to get a classic car. A '70 Chevelle or a '66 Mustang. When I'm no longer a broke college student scraping by, I'll buy one of those. Just a little something to show myself that studying hard and not taking shortcuts to the top is worth it.

I've got a '76 Torino (Think Sarsky and Hutch). The car is finished except for the paint. And yes, it WILL be getting the Tomato paint job with the white swoosh. ;)

If I had unlimited funds, I'd be after this baby:

First, I love both of 'em, but I'd go for the '55 Tbird, Luke!

The 55 is a real gem! Or I could always try to convince a good friend out of his Aston Martin DB6......or not! Lol!

I'd really like one of these someday: a birth-year Porsche 911.
