I bought this 1947 Gillette SS a few days ago, once again taking the chance that I could polish it into something presentable. For a 66 yr old razor, it surpassed expectations. For $8 I'm more than satisfied. (I think the "Before" picture is obvious...)
I don't know if I'm going to keep it. I may give it to my cousin, who I'm trying to introduce to DE shaving. It kills me everytime I see him drag a virtually dry razor across his face.
Thank you all! I get a kick out of cleaning these things up. It's amazing that something older than me looks so much younger than I after a good cleanup. I'm working on a brush now. Going to stain and seal it soon. It'll look a little different from when it started.
