    Mycarver,

I am working on a Ever-Ready #1000 clear brush handle. The original black, inside coating had to be taken out to install a 22mm TGN, Finest Badger knot. I am setting the knot to approx 48 mm. I was wondering what coating you use to replace the black on the inside?

I thought I was just going to get a small bottle of acrylic model car paint, apply/let it dry and then epoxy in the knot. I started to question: #1, will the 5 minute epoxy adher to the acrylic paint and #2, will the epoxy cause a chemical reaction with the acrylic paint and ruin the bond?

With your experience, what kind of paint do you use? I have some Brownell's glass bedding, black tinting dye, that I can add to the 5 minute epoxy to achieve the black coating. Not sure of which way to go.

I was going to experiment with the tinting dye on Monday to see if the color is alright.

As far as I know, epoxy does not solvate nitrocellulose enamel (model paint). The two should play nice together.

Mike's Restore thread pretty much details how its done quite nicely. ;)

I have successfully added Nestors model paint to the two-part epoxy I use.

What a great idea.. it didn't harm the curing?
