When I first started wet shaving I didn't really like shaving creams, in a tube. Fast forward 3 1/2 years I absolutely love shaving creams!! I put a dab on my brush and a couple of dabs on my face. I'm not big on bowl/scuttle lathering.
There's nothing wrong with changing things up. I find I like some things more as I get older, while some of the things I used to love just don't hold much attraction any more. Sent via mobile - Chris
I've got Proraso Green in the tube sitting right next to my razor/brush stand. Used it for the first time in about a month, last week. I keep saying to myself I'll use it, but for some reason I pass on it in favor of other creams. Going to use it in the morning tomorrow for my Focus. Already put the sticky note on my shaving mirror.
I cannot count how many things I poopoo-ed and have since come around. Face lathering- a few years ago, face latherers reminded me of Mormon missionaries. Geez..."You could always try face lathering"! Cold water shaving- this was a big one. I'm a true convert to cold water shaving. I still don't drink the Fatboy Kool-Aid though. I think we all can benefit from an open mind.
When I started, soaking the puck was the thing to do to get great lather. Found out that was/is bunk. I can whip up a great lather without soaking the puck, AND my soap doesn't get eaten up as fast. If you prefer soaking your puck, go for it. It's your shave. Enjoy it your way.
Very interesting. I've gone from creams in tubes to croaps to hard pucks. MYB hard ouch of Mitchell's Wool Fat it's one of my favorite soaps. But, then I've never face-lathered. HERM
I used to use hot water. I don't any more. Cold water shaver. I used to soak my brush. I don't any more. Wet, shake and go. I used to bowl lather. I don't any more. Face latherer. I used to use canned goo. I don't any more. Too many other good choices. I used to have a beard. I don't any more. Finally, shaving is fun again. I have over 50 razors that I actually shave with.
